Noise Pollution: 154 Offenses Recorded Since November 2024

Since November 2024, a total of 154 fines for noise pollution have been issued. This was announced by the Minister of Environment, Rajesh Bhagwan, during a press conference held in Port-Louis this afternoon. According to him, the Environmental Police have recorded 269 complaints for the period of 2024-2025.

Minister Bhagwan is urging the public to act responsibly. He reminds that laws are already in place to penalize these offenses, but he does not rule out the possibility of making them stricter, potentially tripling the fixed penalty currently set at Rs 10,000.
