Teenagers and Social Media: Should Access Be Limited?

Teenagers and social media: Should access be limited? This is the theme of today's "Au Cœur de l’Info" this afternoon.

The digital landscape is evolving at a rapid pace, much faster than the governance frameworks designed to regulate it. While social media provides spaces for learning, expression, and social connections, it also exposes teenagers to very real risks: addiction, cyberbullying, and social pressure.

In response to these issues, Australia and then France have opted to restrict access for younger users to digital platforms. Should Mauritius follow suit?

This debate will be addressed starting at 5:00 PM on Radio Plus and on the platforms of the Défi Media Group.

Prem Sewpaul will host:

• Avinash Meetoo, computer scientist and director of Knowledge Seven;

• Nicolas Soopramanien, clinical psychologist;

• Sergeant Sameerkhan Roshanally from the Cyber Crime Unit of the police;

• Kunal Naik, addiction specialist, via video conference.
