Supreme Court: 45 Lawyers Join the Profession

Forty-five new lawyers officially entered the Bar on Friday, January 30, 2026. Among them is Alvin Nagalingum, the son of Deven Nagalingum, Minister of Youth and Sports. They took their oath in the Supreme Court before a Full Bench, presided over by Chief Justice Bibi Rehana Mungly-Gulbul, during a solemn ceremony. The swearing-in took place in the presence of members of the judiciary, family of the newly sworn-in lawyers, and representatives from the legal profession. Attorney General Gavin Glover S.C. and the new president of the Bar Council, Me Antoine Domingue S.C., each delivered a speech. The emphasis was placed on ethics, with a reminder that the profession is not a "business." The Chief Justice also delivered a speech focusing on the importance of preserving the reputation of the Bar. The new lawyers are: Loveneesh Beedasy, Wasiimah Eckburally, Girish Unrodee, Anisha Devi Ahgun Dalayya, Trisha Ushaamvada Ratnali Sungker, Shefali Sungker, Lalita Murugan, Shreeya Gunesie, Muhammad Yaasir Chaumoo, Bibi Sameerah Gafoor, Nasirah Cunniah, Mitradeva Rao Sydamah, Anna Yashee Ramtohul, Imitabh Sharma Bandhu, Marie Hélène Martine Crouche, Nyanam Permall, Tirthraj Kumar Parmessur, Mohammad Shoaib Khan Sahodeea, Alvin Nagalingum, Muhammad Nadeem Ahmad Bakurally, Aftab Hussein Carrimkhan, Poornima Jhaumal, Muhammad Farhaan Rujubali, Tirumangei Mooroogen, Ayush Ramsooroop, Pallavi Luchmun, Prishina Etwareea, Teedeep Kumar Kissoon, Siddarsh Groodoyal, Avinash Sookun, Medhinee Samlall, Deevesh Meetoo, Rayhan Nemchund Brigemohane, Saraswatee Mistry, Kshitish Samputh, Baboo Narottamsing Ramdour, Jean-Alain Julien Maniacara, Pallavee Askoorum, Souhasinee Bye Esram, Poorvisha Singh Awotar, Adarsh Khugputh, Jean Phil Mc Terrence Pavin, Rishi Nursimulu, Shreenidhi Chinniah, and Mohamad Fezal Washeem Ramjaun.
