HSC 2026: Mauritian Creole Introduced as a Main Subject Under Certain Conditions
Mauritian Creole will be introduced as a main subject in the Higher School Certificate (HSC) starting from 2026. However, access to this program will be subject to specific criteria.
Students must hold a School Certificate or a General Certificate of Education (GCE). For the School Certificate, the requirements include passing English and obtaining at least three credits, including one in Mauritian Creole, during the same examination session.
Regarding the General Certificate of Education, candidates must have passed five subjects to be eligible.
