Liverpool Secures Record Transfer of Jérémy Jacquet
Liverpool FC has taken a significant step in rebuilding its defense by reaching a preliminary agreement with Stade Rennais for the transfer of young French prospect Jérémy Jacquet. The deal, valued at around €70 million (£60 million including bonuses), will see the 20-year-old central defender join the Mersey club next summer. Although Chelsea showed concrete interest during the winter transfer window, the Reds' management was more persuasive in securing the services of the promising French international, whose impressive performances in Brittany this season have caught the attention of European scouts.
This investment is part of a long-term renewal strategy for the squad managed by Arne Slot, especially as speculation arises regarding Ibrahima Konaté's future at the club. After missing out on the recruitment of Marc Guéhi, Liverpool sees Jacquet as the ideal profile to stabilize its defense starting next season. The player, who comes from the Rennes training center, still needs to undergo the traditional medical examination before finalizing a contract, the personal terms of which are not expected to hinder the completion of the agreement.
