Tourism: Grand-Baie Domain's Commercial Director Receives International Award
Saheed Eyasim, the commercial director of Domaine de Grand-Baie, has recently been awarded the International Medal of Tourism Excellence. This prestigious honor is bestowed by the International Federation of Tourism and was presented to him by the federation's president, Jean Eric Duluc.
"The application process for the Medal of Professional Excellence in Tourism is designed to ensure transparency, fairness, and genuine recognition of professionals," he explains. The process begins with a voluntary application submission, which includes a detailed CV, a cover letter or recommendation, and documents certifying experience and achievements in the tourism sector.
According to Saheed Eyasim, the applications are then reviewed by "an independent admissions committee made up of recognized tourism professionals, institutional representatives, and industry experts."
Each application undergoes a thorough analysis, including verification of the information provided and both qualitative and quantitative assessments of the candidate's contributions. "The decision is made collectively by the selection committee," he specifies.
The criteria for awarding the medal encompass several aspects, including professional experience, contribution to tourism development, the impact of initiatives undertaken, as well as ethics and professionalism. "There is also an emphasis on peer recognition and measurable economic, social, or cultural outcomes," the commercial director highlights.
For Saheed Eyasim, this distinction is primarily honorary. He reminds us that "the Medal of Professional Excellence in Tourism is awarded based on strict and objective criteria grounded in merit, impact, and professional commitment." He believes this recognition aligns with a structured evaluation of careers in the tourism industry.
