Anil Kumar Dip Case: Disagreement Over an Affidavit Before the Supreme Court

The motion filed by Anil Kumar Dip against the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) was heard on Monday, February 2, 2026, before Chief Justice Bibi Rehana Mungly-Gulbul at the Supreme Court.

This motion aims to contest the summons of the former Police Commissioner in the judicial investigation into the death of Jacquelin Steve Juliette, which occurred on January 4, 2023, in Goodlands.

Represented by Senior Counsel Me Ivan Collendavelloo and assisted by Me Saya Ragavoodoo, the former Commissioner opposed the introduction of an affidavit that the DPP intends to submit. Senior State Attorney Me Rasmi Camiah stated that she insists on presenting the same affidavit dated December 15, 2025, along with a second affidavit aimed at providing clarifications.

Me Ivan Collendavelloo maintained his objection and announced his intention to file a motion to strike and expunge certain excerpts of this affidavit from the record. In response, Me Rasmi Camiah contested this move, arguing that Anil Kumar Dip is attempting to introduce new requests through incidental means, and requested a postponement to submit her points of objection.

The case has been adjourned until February 16, 2026.
