Absa Expands Stories of Hope Cancer Screenings to Rodrigues for World Cancer Day 2026
Absa Mauritius is set to extend its Stories of Hope cancer awareness campaign to Rodrigues for the first time in 2026, coinciding with World Cancer Day on February 4, 2026.
This three-day event, in collaboration with Link to Life and the Rodrigues Health Commission, will offer free breast and prostate cancer screenings at three community locations on the island.
Rodrigues, with around 43,000 residents, faces significant healthcare access challenges due to its geographic isolation and the limited availability of specialized screening services. This initiative aims to promote early detection and enhance access to preventive healthcare for underserved communities.
Cedrine Chimon Rampal, the Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, commented that this initiative reflects the bank's commitment to inclusive growth and community well-being, ensuring that essential health services reach all Mauritian and Rodriguan communities.
Screenings will be conducted at the following locations from 09:00 to 14:00:
- February 4: Grand La Fouches Mangues Community Center
- February 5: Anse aux Anglais Youth Center
- February 6: Roche Bon Dieu Dispensary
Launched nationally in 2025, Stories of Hope has already benefited over 1,500 individuals through awareness and screening initiatives.
The public is encouraged to participate and take advantage of the free screening services offered during this event.
