St-Hilaire: Two Groups Clash in the Street After a Suspected Theft

A violent clash erupted on Sunday, February 1st, in St-Hilaire, involving two groups of people following the suspected theft of a mobile phone.

According to initial reports, stones were thrown, damaging two vehicles, and three complaints have been filed with the police. Suspects are actively being sought by law enforcement.

The first complaint came from a resident of St-Hilaire, who noticed his phone was missing from his home. After reviewing footage from his surveillance camera, he claims to have identified two local residents in possession of the device.

Accompanied by a friend, he went to the home of one of the suspects, who allegedly agreed to get into their vehicle voluntarily.

The group then headed to Plaine-Magnien in an attempt to locate the second suspect, but were unsuccessful. Upon returning to St-Hilaire, tensions escalated: approximately 150 people, armed with offensive objects, reportedly displayed a hostile attitude and threw stones at vehicles.

Additionally, a 36-year-old woman filed a complaint for threats, stating that the father of one of the St-Hilaire residents, armed with a samurai sword, had threatened her life. Another complainant also implicated members of this family.

An investigation has been launched to shed light on this matter.
