"Golden" from the film KPop Demon Hunters wins K-pop its very first Grammy Award
The film KPop Demon Hunters continues to make waves. A global phenomenon in 2025, it has become the most-watched production in Netflix history and has now added a new chapter to music history by giving K-pop its very first Grammy Award.
The song "Golden," taken from the movie's soundtrack, won the award for Best Song Written for a Visual Media at the pre-televised Grammy Awards ceremony held on Sunday in Los Angeles. Performed by Ejae, who plays a singer in the fictional girl group Huntr/x, this empowering track dominated the Hot 100 chart for eight weeks in 2025.
The song has garnered four nominations for the 68th Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. A remix by David Guetta is also among the nominated works, while the album featuring "Golden" is nominated for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.
In the press room after receiving the award, Ejae emphasized the symbolic significance of this honor: "Growing up, many people didn’t even know where Korea was. Singing the lyrics in Korean, word for word, holds immense meaning. This award is about representation. Today, it’s a celebration of a culture."
