Arm Wrestling – Ascencia Series: A Spectacular Event at Bagatelle Mall
After the Phoenix Mall event last October, Arm Wrestling Mauritius invited its fans this weekend to Bagatelle Mall for the second competition of the Ascencia Series. In an electric atmosphere, marked by a large turnout and a high level of competition, the best specialists in the country faced off at the tables, confirming the rising popularity of the sport in Mauritius.
While Sankaren Nayagum left a lasting impression during the previous edition by winning three gold medals, this time the honors went to Etienne Gebert, David Boucarry, and Ranveersingh Bahadoo, each achieving a remarkable double victory in both left and right arm categories.
In the -90 kg category, Etienne Gebert confirmed his status as a national reference. Impressive in mastery and strength, he triumphed with his left arm against Sankaren Nayagum, then repeated his success with his right arm, dominating Muhammad Suhayl Modunnasaib Hishaam in the final.
In the -75 kg category, David Boucarry also achieved a flawless performance. Highly anticipated, he left no chance for his opponents, winning with his left arm against Rohan Suddul, and then with his right arm against Aryan Suddul, showcasing impeccable consistency and technique.
The -60 kg category was marked by the undisputed dominance of Ranveersingh Bahadoo. The young athlete clinched both finals: with his left arm against Muhammad Jasim Eottoal, and then with his right arm against Aadam Keenoo, confirming his potential and promising future in the sport.
In the heavy +90 kg categories, the titles were shared. Fardeen Hasim Ahmad Kaudeer won with his left arm in the final against Sankaren Nayagum, while Michel Jean Guillaume prevailed with his right arm over Nayagum, who still took home two silver medals after a solid performance.
In the under-16 category, Shayed Abdul secured first place by defeating Hachem Ahmad Al Mehd Hoolash in the final, showcasing the dynamic future of Mauritian arm wrestling.
Finally, in the Women’s Open category, Afafe El-Kissai emerged victorious, winning the final against Rummun Ashna and confirming the growth of women's arm wrestling on the local scene.
With this second stage of the Ascencia Series, Arm Wrestling Mauritius not only affirms the enthusiasm of the public but also the quality and diversity of the athletes involved. The next stage is eagerly awaited as the battle for national supremacy is just beginning.
