Plaine-Verte: Simbad, a Prominent Figure, Has Passed Away

Sadiq Ali Ollite, better known as Simbad, a well-known figure in Plaine-Verte and Vallée-Pitot, passed away at the age of 73 on the morning of Monday, February 2nd.

In the capital, particularly in Plaine-Verte, Vallée-Pitot, and surrounding areas, he was recognized for his commitment and determination in social causes. Simbad was known for his close ties with the Labour Party and was considered one of the confidants of Navin Ramgoolam, appreciated for his sincerity and dedication to the party.

Very active during various electoral campaigns, he was often seen alongside his two sons. Despite his fragile health, Simbad recently made appearances with Navin Ramgoolam during court proceedings, within his close guard.

In 1996, during the Gorah Issac street bombing in Plaine-Verte, which resulted in the deaths of three activists from the PTr-MMM alliance amid a municipal campaign, Simbad was among the survivors.

The funeral for this red activist is scheduled for this afternoon. The funeral procession will leave his home on Inkerman Street at 5:30 PM and head to the Riche-Terre cemetery.
