Accident in Pamplemousses: The Policeman Signaled the Driver to Stop

Images circulating online depict a road accident in which a police sergeant was severely injured while escorting a Cavadee procession in Pamplemousses on Sunday. It is evident from the footage that the officer signaled for a 72-year-old driver to stop. However, the vehicle reportedly continued towards the officer.

The policeman has been rushed to the Northern Hospital, where he is currently admitted.

During questioning by investigators, the driver claimed he did not see the sergeant ordering him to stop. An investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact circumstances of the incident.
