Ankush Dussoruth: Running from Bois-Pignolet to Plaisance to Escape Stress

Running to breathe, running to survive stress. Ankush Dussoruth, a 22-year-old sports enthusiast, set himself an extraordinary challenge: to run from his hometown of Bois-Pignolet, Terre-Rouge, to Plaisance Airport. On Saturday, January 24, this psychology and human resources student at Curtin University in Telfair covered 50 km in 5 hours and 31 minutes.

Used to marathons, the young man relied solely on his mental strength, a water bottle, and a mobile app to track his distance. His initial destination was Grand-Bassin, but driven by determination, he ultimately decided to push himself even further.

Behind this athletic achievement lay a personal goal: to break free from deep stress.

However, throughout his journey, Ankush faced a disturbing reality: used syringes littering the roadside and drivers under the influence of drugs.

Through his testimony, Ankush Dussoruth aims not only to highlight his athletic performance but also to deliver a powerful message to the youth, especially those in psychological distress. He believes there is always a way to get back on track and emphasizes the importance of avoiding the societal ills that plague us. He also draws attention to men's mental health, an issue that is often ignored or stigmatized. Many suffer in silence due to a lack of listening and support, feeling they have no one to talk to. He stresses the importance of discipline as a catalyst for change.

Determined to push his limits even further, Ankush Dussoruth is now aiming for a 100 km ultramarathon.
