24h By Webcup: The Mauritian Team Codewares Reloaded Shines a Light on Mauritius on the International Stage

The historic victory of the Mauritian team Codewares Reloaded, which won the international final of the 24h By Webcup 2025 held in Maputo, Mozambique, from December 11 to December 15, 2025, was celebrated on Monday, February 2, 2026, during a ceremony organized in Ébène.

The winning team, comprised of four young Mauritians: Pravesh Gowreea, Ashfaaq Jowaheer, Rabill Madarboccus, and Kavish Mojhoa, was awarded cash prizes, trophies, and certificates in recognition of their remarkable performances.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Information Technology, Communication, and Innovation, in collaboration with the Federation of Innovative and Numeric Activities in Mauritius (FINAM). The Minister of Information Technology, Communication, and Innovation, Dr. Avinash Ramtohul, the president of FINAM, Mrs. Jenny Chan, and other dignitaries were present.

The 24h By Webcup is a web development competition held simultaneously across six territories in the Indian Ocean. In Mauritius, the competition was first organized in 2013 and to date, over 760 participants have taken part.

In his speech, the Minister of ICT congratulated the team on their international victory and highlighted the growing pool of digital talent in the country. He reiterated the government's commitment to supporting youth through initiatives aimed at developing innovation, digital skills, and emerging technologies. He also emphasized the importance of a fully integrated innovation system to keep pace with rapid technological advancements, including plans to introduce virtual labs in upper primary schools to promote early awareness and understanding of artificial intelligence.

Dr. Avinash Ramtohul further stressed the value of teamwork and the skills gained through such competitions, noting that these experiences enhance the interpersonal skills of participants and their future career prospects.

For her part, Mrs. Jenny Chan pointed out that this is the first time Mauritius has won the international title, reflecting the excellence, creativity, and technical expertise of young Mauritian digital talents. She commended the Ministry, FINAM, and all partners for their ongoing support in strengthening the national digital ecosystem and expressed confidence in Mauritius's participation and success in future editions of the competition, including the upcoming 2026 edition scheduled for June.
