Social Media: NADC Condemns the Spread of Videos Showing Distressed Youths and Urges Public to Contact Emergency Services

The National Agency for Drug Control (NADC) has become aware of a video circulating on social media, showing three individuals, two of whom appear to be teenagers, in distress on the street.

In a statement released on Tuesday, February 3, the Agency noted that the conditions observed in these youths resemble acute neurotoxic effects linked to the consumption of synthetic drugs. This situation exposes those involved to severe risks, including seizures, respiratory failure, permanent neurological damage, or even death.

The NADC emphasizes that such cases constitute medical emergencies. It stresses the need to immediately call 114, 112, or 999, and to ensure that the individuals involved are not further endangered.

The Agency also condemns the sharing of such content, highlighting that it can delay medical interventions, reinforce stigma, and hinder access to prevention and care services.

In light of the increasing number of similar situations, the NADC reaffirms its commitment to strengthening and intensifying its actions regarding prevention, monitoring, and response to synthetic drugs.

To this end, the Agency intends to enhance inter-institutional coordination with the Ministry of Health and the police, intensify monitoring and analysis of circulating substances, with particular attention to protecting youth, and accelerate targeted prevention efforts in schools and community settings.
