Allegations of Misconduct: Former Planet FM Director Arvind Nilmadhub Arrested by the FCC

Arvind Nilmadhub, the former director of Planet FM, whose operating license was revoked by the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) on August 3, 2020, was arrested by the Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) early Tuesday evening, February 3rd.

This arrest is part of allegations of misconduct related to residency permit applications for several foreign nationals. According to information available to the FCC, significant amounts of money in US dollars allegedly passed through Arvind Nilmadhub's bank account in 2021.

Nilmadhub is suspected of money laundering. The FCC claims that on December 9, 2021, he held a sum of 150,000 US dollars (Rs 6,967,500 based on the current exchange rate) in the bank account of Afribrains Holdings Ltd. The FCC states that these funds originated from a questionable source.

Furthermore, according to the investigating agency, a transaction of 75,000 US dollars (Rs 3,483,750) was made to the same bank account in May 2023.

He will spend the night at the Moka detention center. On Wednesday, Arvind Nilmadhub will be presented in court in Port-Louis for his provisional charge under the Financial Intelligence and Anti-Money Laundering Act (FIAMLA).
