Mauritius Celebrates Its First International Victory at the 24h By Webcup

Mauritius has celebrated its historic victory at the 24h By Webcup, with the Codewares Reloaded team winning the international final held in Maputo, Mozambique, from December 11 to 15, 2025. The celebration took place on Monday, February 2, during a ceremony organized in Ébène. The winning team, consisting of four young Mauritians – Pravesh Gowreea, Ashfaaq Jowaheer, Rabill Madarboccus, and Kavish Mojhoa – received cash prizes, trophies, and certificates in recognition of their outstanding performance.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Information Technology, Communication, and Innovation, in collaboration with the Federation of Innovative and Numeric Activities in Mauritius (FINAM). Present at the ceremony were the Minister of Information Technology, Communication, and Innovation, Avinash Ramtohul, the President of FINAM, Jenny Chan, and other notable figures. The 24h By Webcup is a non-stop web development competition held simultaneously across six territories in the Indian Ocean. In Mauritius, the competition first took place in 2013 and has since attracted over 760 participants.

Avinash Ramtohul congratulated the team on their international success and highlighted the growing pool of digital talent in the country. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting youth through initiatives aimed at fostering innovation, digital skills, and emerging technologies. He also emphasized the need for a fully integrated innovation system to keep pace with rapid technological advancements, including projects to introduce virtual labs in upper primary schools to raise awareness and familiarize young people with artificial intelligence.
