Renewal of AGOA: A Relief for the Mauritian Export Sector

The renewal of AGOA for a period of one year, retroactively effective from September 30, 2025, brings relief to the Mauritian export sector.

The text must now be sent to the White House, where American President Donald Trump is expected to sign it.

On the side of the Mauritius Export Association (MEXA), this renewal is welcomed as a significant relief. Its director, Lilowtee Rajmun Joosery, mentions a long battle waged by the organization.

However, she emphasizes that the work is just beginning. MEXA is now calling for close collaboration with the government to conclude a bilateral agreement with the United States.
