Radio Plus: Winners of the 'Album of the Year 2025' Competition Honored
The headquarters of Radio Plus in Port Louis hosted the award ceremony on Tuesday, February 3rd, honoring the winners of the 'Album of the Year 2025' competition. During the event, twelve listeners stood out. Dr. Tinousha Goorvadoo won in the Eastern category, while Sybille Salomon Ferry took first place in the Western section. The top prizes for the Local and Bhojpuri categories were awarded to Reshad Ramjaun and Heshni Gokhool respectively.
This annual competition invites radio listeners to vote for their favorite songs in four categories. In the Eastern category, Dr. Tinousha Goorvadoo received the first prize. A fan of the film Saiyaara, this resident of Curepipe explained that she voted for the film's hit song: "I am a huge fan, so I took my chance.
I have participated in the competition before without ever winning. I was absolutely not expecting this result. I am thrilled with this award."
In the Western category, Sybille Salomon Ferry, a resident of Brisée-Verdière, emerged victorious. "I love the song Sapphire by Ed Sheeran. I really wanted it to win, so I voted. I was very surprised to win first prize, having never won anything before. It’s a wonderful surprise," she said.
For the Local category, Patrick Reshad Ramjaun, a resident of Coromandel, was honored. The song 'Parfwa Vremem' by Diyaune resonates particularly with him. "I have been through very tough times, and the lyrics touch me deeply. They convey an essential truth. Moreover, I believe that with health, strength, and prayer, one can overcome challenges. This first prize truly means a lot to me."
Finally, the recently added Bhojpuri category brought joy to Heshni Gokhool. The Rose Hill resident appreciates this initiative. "I am very pleased that Radio Plus has introduced this category. It is important to promote Bhojpuri songs, which are an integral part of our heritage. It is an honor for me to receive this first prize, especially for the song 'Bam Bam Mahadev' by Shivibe."
