Tropical Depression North of St Brandon: Positive System Development to be Named Gezani

A second special bulletin for St Brandon was issued at 10:15 AM by the Vacoas weather station on Friday, February 6th. At 10:00 AM, the tropical depression was centered around latitude 15.6 degrees south and longitude 60.0 degrees east, approximately 100 km north-northeast of St Brandon. It is moving southwest at a speed of about 15 km/h, and on this path, it is getting closer to St Brandon.

The system is evolving in a favorable environment. Should it intensify into a moderate tropical storm, it will be named 'Gezani' by the Mauritian meteorological services.

The clouds associated with the tropical depression are affecting the weather conditions. Moderate to heavy showers, sometimes thundery, are expected starting this afternoon. During thunderstorms, it is advisable to stay sheltered and avoid taking refuge under trees.

Winds will blow from the southeast at about 35 km/h before shifting to the north sector this afternoon, with an average speed of 50 km/h and gusts reaching up to 90 km/h.

The sea will become very rough, with swells of about 4 meters. It is strongly advised not to venture out to sea.
