St-Julien d’Hotman: Two Disgruntled Parents Assault a CNT Bus Conductor
A bus conductor from the CNT, operating a transport line for schoolchildren in the eastern part of the country, was assaulted by two disgruntled parents in St-Julien d'Hotman on Wednesday, February 4, after school hours.
The two parents boarded the bus and confronted the conductor. The incident was filmed and the video is currently circulating on social media. They accused the conductor of not allowing their children to board the vehicle. The conductor explained that the bus was already overcrowded, with about 84 students on board.
The bus then proceeded to the St-Pierre police station, where the conductor reported the incident before continuing his route.
A complaint was filed the same day at the Lallmatie police station. The conductor also claims to have lost around Rs 1,000 from his earnings. Furthermore, an internal investigation has been initiated by the National Transport Corporation.
Transport Minister Osman Mahomed reacted to the incident on his Facebook page on Friday morning. He stated that he is awaiting a full report from the CNT's director general regarding this "unfortunate episode."
"In the meantime, a solution must be found for the public transport issue, as I have said since the beginning of this matter," he wrote.
