Clémencia: A Police Officer Arrested for Attempted Burglary

A 31-year-old constable was arrested late Tuesday night for attempting to break into a shop in Clémencia. The incident occurred around 2 AM when a 72-year-old retiree, awakened by suspicious noises, caught the individual trying to force open the aluminum door of his store with a sword.

The suspect, who lives nearby and is known to the victim, attempted to sabotage the security system by concealing the surveillance camera under a cloth. Local residents subdued the man before handing him over to officers at the Bel-Air-Rivière-Sèche station. The police confiscated a black bag and the weapon used in the incident.
