Protection of Children Against Sexual Abuse: Is the Legal Framework Sufficient?

In light of the recent incident that took place at a school, which has received extensive media coverage and commentary, it is crucial to examine the laws against child abuse and how these reprehensible acts should be addressed. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1989 and ratified by Mauritius in 1990. Additionally, in 1992, Mauritius ratified the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child.
