Tragedy at Melrose Prison: An Inmate Reveals the Circumstances of Andy Selmour's Assault
The assault on Andy Selmour occurred after he received a visit at Melrose Prison. According to a revelation from an inmate during the Board of Inquiry set up to clarify the causes of his death, on Monday, March 9, the attack was allegedly related to the suspected presence of synthetic drugs among his personal belongings.
During the hearing this morning, two inmates were interviewed by former judge Paul Lam Shang Leen. They detailed the events of the fateful day on December 9.
One of the witnesses was with Andy Selmour before the assault and was returning to the Ward Association of the Kestrel unit after visiting his relatives, carrying the deceased's personal effects.
One of the four assailants was the first to arrive and accused Andy Selmour of spreading false information about him.
According to testimonies, this excuse was used to provoke a confrontation and seize his personal belongings, suspected of containing synthetic drugs.
A significant security presence was deployed this morning for the hearing of the two inmates, with escorts provided by prison officers and the Special Support Unit (SSU).
