National Day: Rajesh Bhagwan, Shakeel Mohamed and Jean-Claude de l’Estrac Elevated to GCSK, Mgr Durhône Made GOSK

On the occasion of the 58th anniversary of Mauritius' independence, celebrated on Thursday, March 12, several individuals will be honored at the National Day Awards 2026. These awards recognize their contributions across various fields.

The highest distinction, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean (GCSK), has been awarded to Rajesh Bhagwan and Shakeel Mohamed for their commitment in the political and legal sectors. Journalist and former minister Jean-Claude de l’Estrac is also among the recipients.

Additionally, the Bishop of Port-Louis, Jean-Michaël Durhône, has been elevated to the rank of Grand Officer of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean (GOSK) for his contributions in religious and social fields.

In the realm of sports, cyclist Kimberley Le Court de Billot-Pienaar will also be honored for her contributions to athletics.
