Leptospirosis: Lack of Staff in Local Authorities Complicates the Fight Against the Disease
A shortage of personnel within local authorities is complicating the fight against leptospirosis in Mauritius. This was stated by the Minister of Local Authorities, Ranjiv Woochit.
In light of this situation, he announced that recruitment will take place within municipalities and district councils to strengthen teams on the ground. This process is expected to be completed by next week.
The minister also specified that the matter will be submitted to the Council of Ministers to secure the necessary budget for these recruitments.
