Tragedy at Melrose Prison: Inmate Admits to Assaulting Andy Selmour

The inquiry into the death of Andy Selmour at Melrose Prison continued this Wednesday. During the proceedings, two inmates were called to testify before the commission chairman, Paul Lam Shang Leen, and the victim's lawyer.

One of the inmates who testified today was the one who assaulted Andy Selmour with a stick on December 9. In his statement, he explained that the day before the assault, they were in the same dormitory when Andy Selmour's cellphone went missing.

He also mentioned that Andy Selmour's partner had visited him, unaware of the contents of the bag she handed to him. According to the inmate, after this visit, he approached Andy Selmour to reclaim his share, claiming he had shared his meal with the victim to obtain synthetic drugs.

Reflecting on the incident, the inmate admitted to hitting Andy Selmour during the assault. He clarified that an argument had erupted between them, particularly over a tube of toothpaste that, according to him, contained synthetic drugs.

The hearing of other witnesses is ongoing.
