Interview: Rundheersing Bheenick: "Economic Reforms Focused on Sustainability Should Be a Priority Area of Action"
🟥 You have served as the Director of Economic Planning and Minister of Finance; how do you assess Mauritius's economic journey since independence in 1968?
It has been remarkable! Our Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has risen from a meager level of around 1 billion USD in a mono-centered economy to approximately Rs 743 billion by 2025, thanks to a diversified economy. In terms of GDP per capita, it has increased fiftyfold over the years.
