Dev Jokhoo Resigns: "Finally, the fish has gone bad," says Bérenger

A question about the prison commissioner sparked a humorous response from Paul Bérenger. When asked about the announcement of Dev Jokhoo’s departure from the head of the prisons, he remarked: "Finally, the fish has gone bad."

"I had always said he should never have been appointed... Look carefully at what he has said and what he has not done in recent times at the head of the prison system."

The leader of the Mauves added that there have been "riots" and that people have lost their lives within the prisons.

After just eleven months in charge, Dev Jokhoo submitted his resignation this week, citing personal reasons amid tensions with the government and controversies surrounding prison security.

However, Radio Plus reported earlier this week that the Prime Minister may have asked him to resign following the awarding of a contract for the supply of frozen fish.
