Murder of Yogeshwaree Bhunjun: A Figure in the Back of Pharmacist Fadhil Dulloo's Car Betrays the Suspects

CCTV footage has allowed investigators to make a significant breakthrough in this case. The images captured a figure covered in a green blanket seen in the back of a vehicle, a troubling element in the investigation targeting Dr. Arvind Parmanand Ramchurn and his alleged accomplices.

Dr. Arvind Parmanand Ramchurn, who has been in custody since March 10, is now expected by the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) to provide his account of the events. The doctor is suspected of being involved in the disappearance and murder of his partner, 37-year-old Yogeshwaree Bhunjun. His interrogation, initially scheduled for Friday, March 20, has been postponed to a later date. He will be assisted by his lawyer, Me Rama Valayden.

Maintaining his innocence from the start of the investigation, the doctor will have to confront the statements made by other individuals involved: Mamade Imteaze Peeroo, Khalif Ul Ahmad Raffick, and Fadhil Dulloo. The latter, a pharmacist by profession, is a close friend of the doctor. All three were arrested last weekend. They also claim to investigators that the doctor was present that day and allegedly orchestrated the crime.

CCTV: The Lead That Points to the Suspects

The investigation made a decisive advancement thanks to the surveillance camera footage. After reviewing the CCTV recordings, the MCIT investigators were able to trace the suspects' movements. Fadhil Dulloo's car was notably spotted driving in front of the victim's house, which allowed detectives to identify the pharmacist, who resides in Dagotière.

The footage shows that on the day of the mother of family's disappearance, two cars entered the yard of the house, one belonging to her partner. In the other vehicle, driven by Fadhil Dulloo, were also Khalif Ul Ahmad Raffick and Mamade Imteaze Peeroo.

According to the investigation, they came once and left, then returned a second time on the same day. This back-and-forth was captured by the surveillance cameras. During his questioning, Mamade Imteaze Peeroo stated that the doctor was not present during their first visit but was on-site when they returned.

When the cars left for the second time, the CCTV footage shows Mamade Imteaze Peeroo sitting in the back seat next to what appears to be a figure wrapped in a green blanket, likely the body of Yogeshwaree Bhunjun.

Persistent Shadows of Doubt

During their interrogation, Khalif Ul Ahmad Raffick and Mamade Imteaze Peeroo stated they subsequently went out to sea, off Case Noyale, to dispose of the body of the thirty-year-old. Fadhil Dulloo, represented by Me Samad Golamaully, denies any involvement in the murder, claiming he merely waited outside the house.

The suspects are expected to be questioned again to clarify certain inconsistencies in their statements. Meanwhile, the search at sea for the victim has yielded no results so far.
