Political Tensions: The Crisis Within the MMM and What It Means for the Heart and Soul of Democracy in Mauritius

The recent public debate in Mauritius has deeply saddened me for my country.

It has become increasingly clear to me over the past few days that Mauritians, in general, do not grasp what the principles of democracy are, what they truly mean, and how they apply.

Unfortunately, for me, this suggests that there will likely be no real change in Mauritius for several generations — at least not in the near future.
