Uber Officially Launched in Mauritius: A New Era for Taxis

Uber is now operational in Mauritius, but only for taxis. The platform was officially launched on Wednesday, March 25th at Suffren, Caudan, during an event attended by guests, influencers, as well as executives from Logidis and Uber.

This launch marks a new step in modernizing transportation in the country. It follows the local app "Alalila," introduced in 2016 by Logidis for taxi drivers. In 2026, the company takes a leap by integrating Uber's technology.

According to Naden Padayachi, General Manager of People Mobility and Vehicle Services, this development aims to enhance the overall experience. "We are using Uber technology to make life easier for travelers and drivers. The system is more transparent and enhances security," he explains.

Safety is, in fact, a central element of the project. With real-time trip tracking, the risks of assaults, especially at night, can be better managed.
