MP Eshan Juman: "My Heart is Broken"
"It is time for us to get to work..." These were the words expressed by Eshan Juman, a member of the Labour Party (PTr), in a post on his Facebook page on Thursday, March 26.
He explained that the current situation is concerning: "Every day, we continue to debate whether to stay in government or leave it," he wrote, adding that he has a "broken heart."
According to the MP, it is now crucial to take action to fulfill the promises made to the people.
His message comes amid tensions within the MMM party, which has been divided since the resignation of its leader, Paul Bérenger, from his post as Deputy Prime Minister last Friday. His daughter, Joanna Bérenger, also an MMM MP, resigned from her position as Junior Minister for the Environment. The purple MP Chetan Baboolall has joined their faction.
The other fifteen MMM elected officials have decided to remain in government. However, the debate continues within the purple ranks: should they stay in government or withdraw?
The PTr, MMM, New Democrats, and Rezistans ek Alternativ are part of the Alliance of Change, which won the legislative elections in November 2024.
