SIM Card Re-registration: Ivor Tan Yan to Appeal to the Privy Council
Ivor Tan Yan filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court on Thursday seeking permission to appeal to the Privy Council. This action follows the Supreme Court's dismissal of his complaint on March 6, which challenged the re-registration of SIM cards set for 2024.
For the union leader, this is about defending fundamental freedoms. In his affidavit, Ivor Tan Yan cites Articles 81 and 17 of the Constitution and requests permission to bring the case before the Privy Council, asserting that the matter raises issues of "great public importance."
The case will be called on May 4. Ivor Tan Yan is represented by attorney Me Sanjeev Teeluckdharry and his counsel, Me Atmarow.
