Vision 2050: The Government Consults Citizens to Define the Future of Mauritius
As part of the national consultations on Vision 2050, a regional meeting took place in Port Louis, bringing together economic stakeholders, NGOs, students, the elderly, and representatives from civil society. Several government members attended, including the Minister of Financial Services and Economic Planning, Jyoti Jeetun, along with local ministers and authorities.
A roadmap for a high-income Mauritius
These consultations are part of the government program for 2025-2029, aimed at transforming Mauritius into a high-income economy, based on inclusive and sustainable growth.
Jyoti Jeetun explained that Vision 2050 will serve as a strategic roadmap to guide the country's socio-economic transformation while enhancing its long-term resilience.
A participatory and inclusive approach
She emphasized that these consultations aim to integrate the aspirations of all societal components, ensuring that the proposals collected will be considered in the formulation of public policies.
Drawing inspiration from examples like Singapore and India, she stressed the importance of long-term planning to ensure sustainable development.
Additional sessions are planned throughout the country to broaden citizen participation and collectively build Mauritius's vision for 2050.
