Interministerial Committee for Heavy Rain: A Common Protocol for Public and Private Sectors

An interministerial committee is currently developing a common management framework for protocols in the event of heavy rainfall, applicable to both the public and private sectors.

This committee brings together the Ministries of Transport, Labor, Social Security, Information and Communication Technologies, as well as Local Authorities. The announcement was made on Monday morning, March 30, by Minister Osman Mahomed at the Port-Louis Waterfront, following his participation in a wreath-laying ceremony in memory of the 11 victims of the floods that occurred on March 30, 2013.

The objective of this initiative is to establish a unified protocol to optimize the management of heavy rains and ensure coordination among all stakeholders involved. A first meeting was held last week, and a new working session is scheduled for this Thursday.
