Potable Water: Current Rainfall Deficit May Lead to Stricter Restrictions
The water situation remains concerning. The seven reservoirs on the island show an overall filling rate of 66.7%. Due to the rainfall deficit recorded since the beginning of the year, stricter measures regarding water consumption may be considered in the coming days.
Mauritius will then have to rely on its current reserves to ensure supply until the end of the year. This was indicated by Lomush Juggoo, director of the Water Resources Unit, who urges the public to adopt a more responsible use of water.
