Jyoti Jeetun: "Mauritius is doing everything possible to avoid being placed back on the FATF and ESAAMLG grey list"
The Minister of Financial Services, Jyoti Jeetun, aims to reassure the public. She states that Mauritius is making every effort to prevent a return to the FATF (Financial Action Task Force) and ESAAMLG (Eastern and Southern Africa Anti-Money Laundering Group) grey list.
She announces that the Anti-Money Laundering, Combating the Financing of Terrorism and Countering Proliferation Financing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill will be presented to the National Assembly this Tuesday.
This legislation includes no fewer than 24 amendments. According to the minister, these represent "significant advances" in strengthening the country's legal framework for combating money laundering and terrorist financing.
The objective is to effectively prepare for the upcoming mutual evaluation scheduled for 2027 by ESAAMLG.
