Meetings, Discoveries, and Sharing: Alteo Hosts Its First Integration Day for New Employees
On Wednesday, March 18, an important date marked the journey of Alteo's new recruits: for the first time, the company organized an integration day. This day is part of a new support program for all Alteo employees and aligns with the ARISE pathway and projects implemented as part of Alteo's cultural journey. It reflects a strong belief: integration is not just about sharing information; it's also about immersing new hires in the culture, values, and spirit of the group from the outset, through concrete moments of discovery, exchange, and connection. What was on the agenda? A complete immersion into the world of Alteo, its activities, values, and operations. It was also a wonderful opportunity to build relationships, collaborate, and lay the first stones for successful integration. All employees who joined the team since last year were invited to gather at 8 AM to begin their journey.
The integration day began at Vivéa Business Park. Participants were able to explore the group from all angles, thanks to a series of speakers who presented Alteo in their areas of expertise. The presentations covered a wide range of topics: Javesh Boodnah (Chief Operating and Financial Executive) outlined Alteo's financial health, tracing its evolution and strategic investments. Haseenah Bordie (Chief People and Culture Executive) immersed the participants in the company's history and values, notably through the ARISE pathway, which places people at the heart of the strategy. Laurent Potage (Chief Communications and Sustainability Executive) highlighted Alteo's sustainability commitments and its connection to the communities in the Eastern region of the island. Finally, Roovisha Seetohul (Head of Legal and Compliance) concluded the morning by presenting the legal and ethical framework of the company, reminding everyone of the importance of integrity in daily operations.
Participants then took a bus to the Beau-Champs section office in Olivia. Upon arrival, they were warmly welcomed by their colleagues before attending a session dedicated to agricultural operations, led by Dominique Rousset (Agricultural Manager), Eric Rousset (Area Manager), Thierry d’Unienville (Agricultural Manager), and Eric de Chalain (Non-Sugar Operations Manager). Together, they provided participants with a concrete overview of daily life in the field, discussing crop management practices, regional responsibilities, and sustainable development efforts in agricultural operations, allowing everyone to appreciate the full extent and expertise of Alteo's agricultural operations.
The visit continued at Anahita Beau Champ, where Christine Besegui (Sales Support Officer) presented various ongoing development and innovation projects in the region. Participants were able to view the model of the Anahita Beau Champ projects, offering a tangible glimpse into the future of Beau Champ and Alteo's strategic vision for this area.
Next, the group headed to the Island Basket greenhouses in Union Flacq for an immersion into the world of controlled cultivation. Guided by Karamoko Kane (Chief Operations Officer) and Vedna Beeharry (Crop Manager), participants closely observed the processes and hands involved in tomato cultivation and gained a better understanding of the techniques and technologies shaping sustainable agriculture. Each participant left with a container of freshly grown tomatoes from the site.
The group then went to Trait d’Union in Union Flacq for a friendly lunch. The afternoon resumed at the factory garage in Union Flacq, where participants continued the day with Sébastien Masson (Head of Mechanization Services) and Bashir Alleesaib (Fertilization & Other Services Manager). They presented the behind-the-scenes of agricultural production, discussing mechanization, fertilization, as well as sugarcane processing and energy production. Rikaesh Ramkishar (Back End Operations Manager) then took over to unveil the secrets of producing specialty sugars, highlighting the complexity and industrial expertise behind each finished product from Alteo.
To conclude this busy day, what better way than to return to the fundamentals: human connection. Participants returned to the Vivéa Business Park for a moment of relaxation and coffee with Fabien de Marassé Enouf, Chief Executive Officer of Alteo. Everyone had the opportunity to introduce themselves and engage directly with him. While this day aimed to provide new employees with a comprehensive view of the company, it also sought to remind them that Alteo is primarily a human adventure, driven by approachable men and women, where exchange and proximity are paramount.
This integration day marks a new ambition: to support these talents from their first steps within Alteo, by offering a complete, human, and inspiring vision of the group, thus laying the foundations for sustainable collaboration.
