FCC Investigation on a Trafficking Case Estimated at Rs 75.9 Million: Inspector Vicky Luckmun Held Until April 15
Inspector Vicky Luckmun, formerly assigned to the St Pierre ADSU, appeared once again before the Moka court this Wednesday. He has been remanded in police custody until April 15, pending the review of his bail application. Inspector Luckmun is accused of conspiracy in a drug importation case valued at Rs 75.9 million, alongside Steeven Moothoocurpen.
The Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) arrested both men in connection with this case, highlighting a plot involving a civilian and a police officer. According to the FCC investigation, the events date back to June 2024. The two suspects allegedly colluded to arrange the importation of a package from Hong Kong, which arrived in Mauritius a month later and was collected by Steeven Moothoocurpen after avoiding border checks. The package contained over five kilograms of a substance suspected to be synthetic drugs, with an estimated value of Rs 75.9 million.
