Economic Impacts of the War in the Middle East: Introduction of a Golden Visa Scheme to Attract Investors to Mauritius
How can Mauritius attract investors during the crisis caused by the war in the Middle East? The Cabinet, meeting this Friday, has decided to introduce a golden visa scheme to entice investors and high-net-worth individuals to settle in Mauritius.
Other measures:
• Create an Accelerated Concierge Service within the Economic Development Board to facilitate and expedite the processes for high-net-worth individuals arriving in Mauritius.
• Expand the current VAT Exemption Scheme for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions to include international sporting events and international award ceremonies for television and cinema, in addition to the currently eligible activities (business meetings, exhibitions, conferences, and weddings).
• Accelerate the relocation of service providers in the financial services sector by granting expedited licenses through Mauritian regulatory bodies (Financial Services Commission and Registrar of Companies), without compromising due diligence.
• Provide expedited customs clearance for existing free zone operators in the Middle East so they can operate in the Mauritius Free Zone without going through a new application process.
