Sainte-Claire Residences: The Anti-Drug Unit Targets Curtis Warren Ah Tone, His Father-in-Law and Brother-in-Law
At Sainte-Claire Residences in Goodlands, drug trafficking appears to be a family affair among the Marie family. On Thursday, April 9, the Northern Anti-Drug Squad (Adsu) intervened in this neighborhood, which is rife with dealers.
Led by Chief Inspector Thakoor, the Northern Anti-Drug Squad has been conducting several crackdown operations recently to identify and apprehend dealers operating with impunity.
During an operation on April 9, tension was palpable as some residents protested against the police raid. Early that morning, the Northern Anti-Drug Squad moved into Hortensia Avenue, where Curtis Warren Ah Tone was spotted. Upon seeing the police, he disposed of a plastic bag containing 41 doses of heroin, another bag holding 145 doses of synthetic drugs, and heroin granules weighing 23.50 grams. The total market value of the seized drugs is estimated at Rs 387,500.
As police were preparing to arrest Warren Curtis Ah Tone, he fled, slipping into the yard of Jean Kema Mimi, a resident on Hortensia Avenue. Mimi and his sister Amanda are accused of obstructing the Adsu from entering their yard and have been ticketed. They allegedly incited the crowd to rise against the Adsu. To prevent the situation from escalating, the Adsu decided to retreat.
The suspect, Warren Curtis Ah Tone, is the son-in-law of Jean François Marie (France), who also resides at Sainte-Claire Residences. Marie was arrested by the Adsu on March 25, with a quantity of methamphetamine, 24 doses of heroin, a package containing drugs, an electronic scale used for weighing, and Rs 112,650 seized that day. The market value of the drugs is estimated at Rs 738,150.
Jean François Marie's son, Jean Daniel, is wanted by the Adsu. On March 19, he escaped an Adsu operation during a checkpoint at Sainte-Claire Residences. Upon seeing the police, he disposed of a package containing 117 doses of heroin. He threatened the officers with two stones and incited the crowd to attack the police.
