India-Mauritius Cooperation: A Major Response to a Kidney Crisis Affecting 1,600 Dialysis Patients
The new kidney transplantation unit at the Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital in Rose-Belle was inaugurated yesterday. The ceremony was attended by Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam, and Health Minister Anil Bachoo, among others.
This event comes at a concerning time for public health, with approximately 200,000 people affected by kidney diseases in Mauritius and nearly 1,600 requiring dialysis.
