[PMQT] Suspected Illicit Substances Found in Police Car: Investigation Ongoing
During the PMQT session in Parliament yesterday, April 14, Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam provided clarification regarding a case of suspected illicit substances discovered in a police vehicle on April 2, in Pailles. The Prime Minister stated that this matter is still under investigation.
The suspicious package found by a garage employee contained substances wrapped in aluminum foil. The Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) was immediately notified, and the package was sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis.
Several police officers and garage employees have been questioned. Searches have been conducted, but no incriminating results have emerged at this stage. No officer has been suspended or arrested.
Authorities are awaiting the results of the scientific analyses, while measures have been announced to enhance internal controls within the police force.
