Fuel: The Rs 2 Collected During Covid Did Not Fund Vaccines, Says Shakeel Mohamed
"The two rupees collected on each liter of petrol during the Covid-19 period were not used to finance the vaccines," stated interim Prime Minister Shakeel Mohamed. This remark was made following a meeting with the Saudi Arabian ambassador to Mauritius, Fayez Meshel Altemyat, this afternoon in Ébène.
He acknowledged the public's frustration regarding the rising prices of petrol and diesel but emphasized that the situation in the Middle East left the government with little room for maneuver.
Additionally, the interim Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the ambassador for donating 300 doses of Covid-19 vaccines. These doses are intended for pilgrims aged 65 and older who are preparing to travel to Mecca.
