Beau-Bassin/Rose-Hill: Patrick Belcourt Criticizes 'Lack of Cohesion and Vision'

Beau-Bassin/Rose-Hill: Patrick Belcourt Criticizes 'Lack of Cohesion and Vision'

One year after the municipal elections, Patrick Belcourt's assessment is clear. During a press conference held on Thursday, April 16, at the St-Georges Hotel, the leader of En Avant Moris strongly criticized the management of the city of Beau-Bassin/Rose-Hill, pointing out a lack of vision and cohesion within the local administration.

From the outset, Patrick Belcourt painted a concerning picture of the urban situation. "We do not have justice, competence, or the necessary cohesion to build something solid for the country," he stated. According to the leader of En Avant Moris, the municipal difficulties are merely a reflection of deeper dysfunctions: "A country that does not progress is a country that regresses," he added, expanding his analysis to the national context.

In light of what he describes as a "lack of clarity," Patrick Belcourt demands greater transparency. He believes that a rigorous accountability exercise is necessary to enlighten citizens about the management of their municipality. "It is essential to clearly explain what is happening, not only in Beau-Bassin/Rose-Hill but also at the national level," he asserted, lamenting an environment where certain decisions are made without real visibility.

The political leader did not hide his disappointment regarding the internal functioning of the town hall. "During the first few weeks, I was an observer, but mostly disappointed," he confessed. He explains that he approached this term with a constructive spirit, driven by the desire to submit concrete proposals, far from excessive politicization.

While he acknowledges the commitment of some municipal employees, he insists on the absence of a strategic direction. "There is a difference between working hard and working smart," he emphasized. In his view, the inability to adapt locally is symptomatic of national inertia.

Patrick Belcourt also laments the absence of certain elected officials in the field, believing that this detachment from daily realities weakens social ties. "It is rare to see some councilors among the residents. Yet, this is where trust is built," he stated.

Doubts About Financial Management

On the financial front, his criticisms become sharper. Drawing on his expertise, he claims to have examined the municipal accounts and detected anomalies. "We observe abnormally high expenses and delays in certain projects," he stated. In conclusion, the leader of En Avant Moris calls for stricter management of public funds to meet the expectations of the citizens.
