Bramer Bank Case: No Prison Time and a Fine of Rs 1.3 Million for Chandra Dip
It took fifteen years for the judicial resolution of the Bramer Banking Corporation Limited case. Yesterday, Magistrate Abdool Raheem Tajoodeen, presiding over the Financial Crimes Division of the Intermediate Court, pronounced the sentences for the four individuals convicted of money laundering to the detriment of the now-defunct bank.
Chandra Dip, son of former police commissioner Anil Kumar Dip, received a fine of Rs 1,330,000 and has avoided prison time.
