Belle-Rose: Arrest of a Heroin Trafficker
A 36-year-old man was arrested yesterday, April 19, in Belle-Rose during an operation carried out by the ADSU (Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit). An investigation was initiated on April 17 when an undercover police officer feigned a transaction to purchase 100 grams of heroin. During this initial exchange, the suspect, a freelance worker residing in the area, provided a sample of 0.61 grams of the drug hidden in a cigarette pack after confirming the financial means of the supposed buyer.
On Sunday, after receiving a phone call from the suspect, a second individual arrived by car to deliver a parcel containing 102 grams of heroin. At the moment the goods were handed over to the undercover officer, law enforcement officials arrested him. The driver of the delivery vehicle managed to escape. Searches conducted after this arrest led the police to seize the suspect's mobile phone as well as a vehicle parked at his residence. The suspect is currently in custody.
