Weather: Heavy Rain Warning Issued for Mauritius and Rodrigues
The Vacoas weather station has issued a heavy rain warning for Mauritius and Rodrigues at 4 PM on Thursday, April 23. This warning will remain in effect until 4 PM tomorrow, Friday, April 24.
"Active clouds associated with an instability zone coming from the east could lead to moderate to locally heavy showers, accompanied by thunderstorms," states the meteorological service. Temporary water accumulations are likely in flood-prone areas. Visibility will be reduced due to fog and rain.
The public is advised to:
- Stay sheltered and avoid plains, hiking, and going out to sea, and not to take shelter under trees during thunderstorms;
- Avoid areas prone to water accumulation;
- Exercise caution on the roads due to reduced visibility caused by rain and fog.
